Our Founder

Originally from Pakistan, Ismail began his journey in the UK with hard work and determination, starting out at the Mars Chocolate Factory. His entrepreneurial spirit soon shone through - first selling leather jackets at local markets, then opening a ladies’ and men’s fashion store in Southampton.

In 1983, Ismail followed his passion and founded Direct Carpet Centre, beginning a new chapter in the world of carpets.Known for his warm personality and dedication, he quickly became a well-loved figure in the local community.

Though Ismail is no longer with us, his vision and values continue to live on. Today, the family proudly carries on his legacy, delivering the same passion, quality, and personal service that he built the business on nearly 50 years ago.

With over 35 years of experience, Kal has been proudly continuing the family tradition started by his father, Ismail, back in 1977. Known for his strong passion for quality flooring and friendly approach, Kal has helped shape Direct Carpet Centre into the trusted, family-run business it is today. His knowledge and dedication ensure that every customer receives expert advice and a personal touch.

Jav spent over 35 years in the flooring industry, building Direct Carpet Centre alongside his brother Kal and carrying forward the vision of their father, Ismail. Known for his passion, hard work, and wealth of experience, Jav played a vital role in shaping the business.

As the third generation in the family business, Umar brings over 10 years of experience and a modern, forward-thinking approach. Passionate about continuing his grandfather Ismail’s legacy, Umar is dedicated to providing customers with a seamless experience — whether online or in-store — while ensuring the family values of quality and care remain at the heart of everything we do.
